Our dedicated and experienced team is headed by Project Manager, Steve Byrne. Steve is supported by Production Manager, Dean Fitzgerald. Together, and with the expertise of our apprentice trained craftsmen, they provide the wealth of experience necessary to advise and guide clients through the all important stone selection and design processes and to manage each job through to a successful conclusion.
Steve Byrne – Project Manager
Steve first joined APS Masonry in 1980 as an Apprentice Stonemason and continued honing his skills first as a Banker Mason in the APS Masonry workshop and then on site, taking on the detailing role for the restoration of the River Terrace at the Palace of Westminster. Moving to the Drawing Office he then became Contracts Manager and, in 2009, he became Head of Department.
In his spare time Steve enjoys playing golf, the occasional game of poker and is a lifelong Aston Villa fan.
Steve says: I have a fantastic team here at APS Masonry and even after all these years still get a thrill out of the amazing variety and quality of the work that we produce by working together
Dean Fitzgerald – Production Manager
Dean first worked for APS Masonry in 1987 at New College, on a big restoration rebuild to the front of the college. A move to the saw shed followed and, 26 years on, Dean is now Production Manager at APS Masonry. He is proud of his excellent team and works alongside Steve, Project Manager.
Having spent most of his youth running around after a football Dean has now slowed down and he and his wife like to play tennis. A lot of spare time is devoted to his Kawasaki and Dean and his wife belong to a motorcycle club that raises money for charities. His golf isn’t up to much, but he loves to play and is always looking for someone to go round the course with him…
Dean says: APS Masonry has invested heavily in keeping up with modern machinery such as the GREX 5 Axis. If you get the chance to see this saw in production, it’s amazing! I’m proud to be part of the new team at APS Masonry and look forward to the challenges that lay ahead.
